Pastor Dave has a vision of ministry as witnessing to God's saving activity, in our lives and in the world, as revealed
in Jesus Christ through scripture and our lived experience. His mission as a minister is to be present with others in the
presence of God to point out and nurture ways in which God is working in and through each of us and all of us.
A native
of Virginia, Dave moved to Illinois at an early age and was raised there before returning East, first to Virginia then to
Maryland. He graduated from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA, in 1981 with a Bachelors of Science in Physics and Computer
Science and spent a year of Brethren Volunteer Service in New Windsor, Maryland before beginning a 15-year career as a computer
programmer.
A call to ministry then led Dave to Bethany Theological Seminary in Richmond, Indiana, where he graduated
in 1998 with a Master of Divinity degree. He had his first pastoral placement in Richmond, Virginia where he served for nine
years before coming to Black Rock Church of the Brethren in January 2008.
Dave grew up involved in church as a child,
youth, and adult, serving in a variety of leadership positions and sharing his musical and theatrical gifts. His hobbies and
interests include singing, playing guitar, reading, biking, kayaking, and doing crosswords. And he loves to laugh!
